FAQ

Q. How much will it cost?

A. Commission pricing varies, and I give estimates as soon as I know enough about the project to feel comfortable doing so. Variables would include the size you have in mind, complexity, if there are references you’d like me to work from, timeline, and materials.

Original artwork in a collaboration like this is a real investment for both parties - please keep that in mind. Expect to spend several hundred dollars at minimum before reaching out.

Q. How does it work?

A. The commission process is very simple and easygoing, we talk about your idea and budget before any decisions are made and work together to come up with a contract fitting both our ideas. The contract includes notes on the subject matter, timeline, and size as well as any other project specific agreements we made.

Before I begin any work, you pay a nonrefundable deposit that is a percentage of the full project proposal and we agree on an amount together. Then, typically I’ll work through several sketches or conceptual tests to make sure we are on the same page. This can take several months.

At a certain point I’ll move on to your piece and be more removed from communication about your project. This is a part of my process. When it’s finished, we have a conversation about whether or not you want to see the piece before it ships and what the final project amounted to pricewise. You pay the leftover balance, I ship your piece and send you a shipping receipt and reimbursement invoice with tracking information. After you receive it, separately I mail a certificate of authenticity along for you to either include in the frame or wherever important documents live for you.

Q. How long does it take?

A. Every project is different, and we discuss this in our initial conversation but typically an estimate of 6 months is pretty solid. I will not accept project proposals that require a finished piece in under 8 weeks unless under very special (expensive) circumstances.

Q. Can I post the finished piece on social media?

A. While I cannot control what you do on your social media, this question is very important to me. Of course you can share the work I’ve done on social media but please be respectful to the time and expertise I put into the project for you by tagging me and crediting me. I have public social media pages and love seeing my work in it’s new homes. Also, sharing digital images of artwork is difficult - it’s never quite capturing what it looks like in person, certainly not the coloring. If you’d like to send me the photo you want to put on social media first to get my okay - that’s perfectly fine and my DM’s are open.

You should also note that I record several parts of my process and spend a lot of time digitally capturing stages and close ups. Because of this, it would be very unwise to pass off the work as your own in any fashion. Don’t be horrid.

Q. What kind of commissions are you accepting?

A. Recently I have been working with landscapes and portraiture, I am open to hearing about your ideas though I will not accept NSFW, black and white references, or pets under any circumstances.
